William Miller was born Oct. 12, 1777 and died Aug. 16, 1826 at North River Mills, Hampshire County, Virginia. He married Christina Burkett, daughter of John and Sarah (Ruckman) Burkett. Christina was born Jan. 23, 1778 in New Jersey and died June 20, 1851 at North River Mills. Both are buried at the Three Churches Cemetery in Hampshire County. William was a hotel owner and operator at North River Mills when the hotel was located on the main road from Winchester to Romney (needs Deed search and documentation).

Children of William and Christina (Burkett) Miller:

1. Silas Miller was born in 1805 and died Sept. 13, 1826.

2. John Burkett Miller was born May 20, 1808 and died March 21, 1886. He married Sarah A. Wills, daughter of Benjamin and Charity (Furr) Wills.

3. Mary Elizabeth Miller was born Feb. 7, 1811 and died Feb. 17, 1848 in Hampshire County.

4. Susan Miller was born in 1814 and died on June 3, 1826.

John Burkett Miller was born May 20, 1808 and died March 21, 1886. He married Sarah Ann Wills, born Dec. 14, 1819 and died January 28, 1872. John was a merchant, miller, and hotel keeper at North River Mills, Hampshire County.

Children of John B. and Sarah A. (Wills) Miller:

1. Della Miller was born March 24, 1838 and died April 13, 1848 at North River Mills, Hampshire County.

2. John H. Miller was born on April 22, 1840 and died on Oct. 19, 1841.

3. Mary Miller was born circa 1842, per 1850 US Census for Hampshire County.

3. William Miller was born Aug. 13, 1845 and died May 9, 1922. He married Sarah V. Wills, born on Aug. 19, 1868 and died Jan. 19, 1933.

4. Benjamin W. Miller was born on Dec. 6, 1849 in Hampshire County and died May 29, 1919 in Texas. He married Roxanne Worley.

5. Aephus Chauncy Miller was born June 5, 1853 and died May 21, 1915 in Texas. He married Sarah Worley.

William Miller, son of John B. and Sarah (Wills) Miller, was born on Aug. 13, 1845 and died May 9, 1922. He married Sarah “Sallie” Virginia Wills, daughter of Thomas and Rebecca Milleson Wills, on Aug. 19, 1868 in Hampshire County. They are buried in the cemetery at Salem United Methodist Church, Slanesville, West Virginia.

Children of William and Sarah V. (Wills) Miller:

1. Cora W. Miller was born on Sunday Oct. 17, 1869. She married William J. Milleson. Residence: Higginsville, WV

2. Annie R. Miller was born Jan. 9, 1872 and died Feb. 27, 1937 in Ranger, Texas. She married Albert Smith.

3. Chancey Holland Miller was born on Sept. 23, 1874 and died March 10, 1935 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. He married Pearl Morrow. His grandfather, Thomas Wills (1824-1915), came to live with him and died in Sapulpa.

4. Henry M. Miller was born April 8, 1878.

5. Mary Ellen Miller was born on Oct. 11, 1880 and died March 29, 1960. She married Holmes Hiett and they lived at Hanging Rock.

6. Alma Loy Miller was born on Dec. 26, 1884 and died Jan. 14, 1919. She married John William Gess (1875-1962), son of Perry and Phoebe (Whitacre) Gess.

7. William T. Miller was born on May 28, 1889 and died July 17, 1944. He married Gala Slane (1895-1973), daughter of Daniel W. and Mary Hester (Wolford) Slane.

8. Charles Love Miller was born in September 1894 and died Oct. 13, 1983. He married Wilma Hazel McDonald on Dec. 23, 1915. They lived on the Miller home place at North River Mills.

Steve Bailes wrote: Wilmer refers to Lake Henderson’s dad, Charles Love Miller, shown here with his mom at the old inn in North River Mills. I remember Mr. Miller as an amazingly patient man and a great local historian. I loved listening to his stories when I was a kid.
